Projeto Bom Pastor

The Good Shepherd Project partners Projeto Bom Pastor in it's care of and development of children and young people through the work of the Aprisco Centre.

Projeto Bom Pastor also actively serves other sectors of the community in partnership with other organisations:

Girls on Steps
Projeto Bom Pastor, located in Fatima a very deprived suburb of Belo Horizonte, began as a crèche, caring for pre school children whilst their mothers worked. It developed into a school for children of poor families and the project has continued to grow, adapting to the changing needs of the community.
Kids in class

In spring 2007 PBP moved its focus away from full time schooling (this now being provided by the local authority for all children of the community) and founded the
Aprisco Centre.
The centre offers a holistic, social care programme for impoverished children who, although they are registered with state schools, struggle educationally, socially and emotionally due to their circumstances. At Aprisco, young people benefit from:

a place of safety, away from
the streets and the culture of drug related gang violence
Youths a calm, structured environment for learning support Classroom at PBP
art, craft & drama classes in which the children can express themselves through creativity Art, craft and drama at PBP sports programmes and dance classes to teach the children teamwork,
