Colchester United youth team keeper Jonathan Cardy spent three months on loan with Norwich City during the 1993/94 season and made 20 appearances for the youth side before returning to Colchester. After spending three years at University, he had brief spells at Kirkley and Sudbury. Jonathan then joined Clacton Town of the Jewson Eastern Counties League. Jonathan left Clacton Town to travel around Canada in early 1998 but returned to Town for the 1999/2000 season. He joined Rymans leaguers Wivenhoe before joining Witham Town.

Jonathan is currently working in the USA for Christian sports ministry Ambassadors in Sport, supported by Frinton Free Church
