Thetford born striker David Ewens played for the Norwich City youth team in 1989/90 and 1990/91 after playing in Kit Carson's PGL team. He signed Associate Schoolboy terms with Norwich at the age of 15 and then joined the YTS scheme in the summer of 1989. However "Bullet" failed to make the grade and later played for Eastern Counties League side Thetford Town before joining ambitious Attleborough Town of the Anglian Combination. David has since rejoined Thetford but has missed several weeks of play in the early 1999/2000 campaign through injury.
