Biography

Matt Lacey is a central midfielder who played for Norwich's reserves against Portmsouth in May 2005. Along with Alex Hill and Sean Burden, Matt was called up to provide cover as Norwich didn't wish to risk players they needed for their final games in the Premiership.

Matt played for both the Norfolk and Suffolk county representative sides, and for Bury and Easton College football academies, and had spells with both Southend and Ipswich's youth teams. He had been with Crewe Alexandra before his family moved to Norfolk.

Moving to the USA on a soccer scholarship at Lees-McRae College, Winthrop University, he won the following awards: NSCAA First Team All American, NSCAA First Team All Region, CC First Team All Conference, First Team All State, Big South First Team All Conference, College Soccer News and Soccer America Team of Week.

He has played for the Richmond Kickers and Fredericksburg Gunners in the USA, coaching for the latter.

He is currently Director of Player Development for Chesterfield United Football Club in Richmond, Virginia.
