Tommy Laws was in the Norwich City Under-12s team in 1997/98. The defender from Ilford later transferred his scolarship to West Ham United where he progressed from the academy until he was released at the end of the 2004/5 season. Believed to have had a trial with Bristol City, Tommy joined Cambridge United on trial on 2nd September 2005. He was then offered a month-to-month contract with the Us on 14th September 2005. He was released by Cambridge on 1st February 2006.

In October 2006, Tommy signed for Conference side Dagenham & Redbridge. Within a couple of months, he had signed for East Thurrock United.
