Athletic's 26 year old Jamaican international striker Kevin Lisbie
joined Norwich on loan on 9th September 2005 as City had an injury
problem up front with injuries to Leon
McKenzie and Peter Thorne.
Lisbie had made 141 appearances for the Addicks and had scored
16 goals including a hat-trick against Liverpool in September
2003. A product of their youth system, Lisbie was a regular in
their Premiership side in 2004/5 until a series of nose bleeds
revealed a benign tumour in the back of his nose for which he
received treatement during the summer.
Kevin scored his first goal for Norwich in their 2-1 defeat at
Watford on 13th September 2005. He made a total of six appearances
for the Canaries before returning to the Valley. On January 7th
2006, The Mirror speculated that Kevin would return to
Carrow Road along with £750,000 in exchange for Robert
Green.
On 21st February 2006, Kevin joined Derby County on a one month's
loan. He has since returned to the Valley but was released during
June 2007. He has since been on trial at Leeds United and has
been linked with Reading. He was given a trial by Colchester in
late July 2007 and played in their 21st July 2007 friendly against
Heybridge Swifts. He completed a transfer to Colchester on 3rd
August 2007 and will compete for a place up front alongside Teddy
Sherringham, Jamie Guy and Clive Platt - all bar Guy being new
signings following the departures of Jamie
Cureton and Chris Iwelumo to Norwich and Charlton respectively.
Unfortunately for Kevin, his 17 goals for Colchester, including
one against Norwich in the 5-1 Canaries' victory on 22nd March,
did not prevent them from being relegated back to League One.
Kevin has 10 caps for Jamaica and has scored twice for them.
