Former Norwich City academy player Steven Shipley joined Cambridge City's academy set-up in May 2002. He was released by Cambridge City in the summer of 2005. Returning to Norwich, Steve joined Norwich United and was in their side that narrowly lost the Norfolk Senior Cup final 1-0 on 19th April 2006 to Robert Taylor's Dereham.

Steve Shipley retired at the end of 2016/17 having made 562 appearances for Norwich United. He was celebrated with a testimonial against Cambridge City on 8th August 2017.
