Biography

Northern Irish B international Johnny Wright was released by Norwich in June 1997 and has had a trial with former manager John Deehan at Wigan Athletic. A former City trainee, Johnny made his first team debut against Aston Villa in October 1994 as substitute for the injured Carl Bradshaw. His full debut came the following week against Queen's Park Rangers but the 4-2 victory was marred a hamstring injury after just 20 minutes. This was his final appearance for the season. He managed just one game the following year and only four in 1996/97. His position at right back being occupied by Carl Bradshaw and Daryl Sutch.

At the end of September 1997, it was announced that Johnny had joined local Jewson Eastern Counties League side Wroxham . He has since returned to his homeland to play for Glenavon for whom he made 19 appearances since his transfer there in November 1997. He joined Ards in August 1998 but returned to Glenavon in 2000/01.
