August 26th/27th
Norwich romp to a 5-1 victory over Barnsley at Carrow Road with two goals from Rob Earnshaw, breaking a club record by scoring in eight consecutive home games, plus strikes from Carl Robinson (his first for the club), Lee Croft and Darren Huckerby. Paul Hayes scores for the visitors. Norwich climb to second in the table.
Elsewhere in the Championship, Jamie Cureton his the eight hat-trick of his career as Colchester beat Derby 4-3 with Paul Peschisolido scoring the Rams' third goal. Cureton is als named in the News of the World's Championship team of the day.
In League One, no former Canaries are on the score sheet but in League Two, Drewe Broughton scores for Chester in their 2-2 draw at Torquay
In the Premiership, Jimmy Bullard's goal wins the game for Fulham at home to Sheffield United. Peter Crouch scores the winner for Liverpool in a 2-1 defeat of West Ham at Anfield - Bobby Zamora scoring West Ham's goal. Damien Francis' goal isn't enough to stop Manchester United winning 2-1 at newly promoted Watford. Calum Davenport's own goal helps Everton win 2-0 at Tottenham.
In Scotland., Garry Brady scores for St Mirren in their 3-1 home defeat to Dundee United.
In the Conference, Michael Twiss scores a brace as Morecambe draw 3-3 at home to Stevenage.


August 19th/20th
In the Premiership, Bobby Zamora takes advantage of Dean Ashton's injury to score twice as West Ham defeat Charlton 3-1. Newcastle skipper Scott Parker scores his club's opening goal as they defeat Wigan 2-1. Damien Francis scores on his debut for Watford but they fall 2-1 at Everton. On Sunday 20th, Rio Ferdinand's own goal is a mere blip as Manchester United thrash Fulham 5-1

In the Championship, Norwich draw 0-0 at Derby. Paul Hayes scores for Barnsley as they hold Southampton to a 2-2 draw at Oakwell.

In League Two, Gaetano Giallanza's goal for Darlington isn't enough to help them avoid a 2-1 defeat at home to Swindon. Lee Frecklington scores Lincoln's second as they draw 2-2 at home to Walsall. Trevor Benjamin strikes twice as Peterborough defeat Macclesfield 3-1. Dean Sinclair (Barnet) is named in the News of the World's League Two team of the day.


August 12th/13th

In the Championship, Norwich come back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Luton 3-2 at Carrow Road with goals from Darren Huckerby, Lee Croft (his first for the Canaries) and Robert Earnshaw. No other former Canaries score in this division nor in League One. In League Two, Keith Briggs scores Stockport's goal as they draw 1-1 at Mansfield.

August 5th / 6th 2006

First weekend of the new season and Norwich fall to a goal scored by a former player as David Healy scores Leeds' winner at Elland Road

Elsewhere in the Championship, supposed Norwich targets Carlos Edwards, Jamie Scowcroft and Freddy Eastwood score for Luton, Crystal Palace and Southend respectively against Leicester, Ipswich and Stoke.

No former Canaries hit the scoresheet in League One but in League Two, Gaetano Giallanza gets his Darlington account opened scoring their first in a 4-0 win over Macclesfield. Drewe Broughton scores on his debut for Chester City as they defeat newboys Accrington Stanley 2-0.

In Scotland, John Sutton scores St Mirren's opener in their 2-0 win at home to Motherwell.
